War Junk

War Junk is a dynamic television series that looks at some of the greatest battles of the First and Second World War by searching, finding, and analysing the War Junk left behind on battlefields of the world and in people's basements, attics and barns.

O'Keefe and Abbott will begin in Ypres where the initial battles of the war took place in October and November 1914 but will focus mainly on the area where the Second Battle of Ypres in 1915 occurred. O'Keefe and Abbott will search the battlefields in and around this area to find the most dramatic stories to tell and mysteries to solve.

The War Junk team gets a rare and incredible opportunity to investigate a 100 year old German tunnel on sacred ground at Beaumont Hamel also known as Newfoundland Park, the land where hundreds of Newfoundland Troops were killed on the first day of the Somme.

War Junk is a 4 part series following the journey of military historian David O'Keefe and history buff and filmmaker Wayne Abbotton some of the world's most iconic battlefields including Juno Beach, Vimy Ridge, Monte Cassino in Italy and ending off on the battlefields of Northern Holland where Canadians help liberate in the spring of 1945.

Vimy Ridge is Canada's most known WW1 battle. The War Junk team quickly discovers that there is more to the battlefield than the trenches and craters that scar the land. The fighting at Vimy Ridge also went below ground. The Team gets an unprecedented opportunity to explore deeper and further into the underground tunnel system than any TV crew has been allowed to go before. What will they uncover over 100 feet below the surface in the deep fighting tunnels under Vimy Ridge?

The team travel south of Rome to investigate the Monte Cassino area of Italy. This was one of the bloodiest campaigns fought as Allied forces marched up through the Liri Valley from end of December 1943 until May 1944.
