Escaping a troubled life at home, Christiane meets Stella and discovers a disparate group of weird and wonderful friends who come together at the legendary SOUND club to drink and dance their troubles away.

Outside of SOUND, the lives of Christiane's new friends are revealed to be much more complex than they seemed; Christiane experiences and witnesses a chain of heartbreaking events that tie the teenagers even closer to one another.

Axel wins tickets for the David Bowie concert for the entire clique, but the evening ends in chaos; Christiane finds herself alone in David Bowie's cabin and has a strange but life-changing experience there.

Christiane leaves Berlin to spend the summer on her grandparent's farm, where life feels innocent and idyllic, but is hurt that Benno doesn't write to her; Benno and Michi sink to new lows to support their growing addiction.

Totally dependent on one another and on heroin, Christiane and Benno's relationship starts to crack; Christiane joins Stella and Babsi on the streets, her addiction finally pushing her into prostitution.

After a tortuous withdrawal, Christiane and Benno get clean; they meet their friends to convince them to do the same, but end up doing one last hit; a magical night ensues, but the gang makes a tragic discovery in the morning.
