When Dre takes over `mum' duties for a week, the praise he gets from everyone at the kids' school inspires him to try to outdo everyone else.

After Dre's children turn their collective noses up at his favourite cheap restaurant in his old neighbourhood, he decides it's time to give them a reality check and insists that they all get part-time jobs.

When Dre's mother Ruby comes to stay, she smothers her son with love but just can't seem to get along with Rainbow. So Dre must find a way to persuade the two most important women in his life to bury the hatchet.

Dre worries that his older kids are going to ruin his Halloween fun by refusing to take part in the Johnson tradition of seeing who can pull the most outlandish pranks on each other.

The kids fear that an act of disobedience by Jack could lead to Dre and Rainbow going back on their word and reinstating spanking.

Dre encourages the family to support each other, but he falls short of Rainbow's expectations. Zoey and Andre Jr are less than enthusiastic when their parents put them in charge of babysitting the twins.
