A jogger who was gunned down in a park manages to contact his wife via his cell phone before he passes. His wife tells Ortiz about her husband's partner and their business dealings.

McDowell and Ortiz start investigating the rape of a woman in her home. The victim's husband says that he saw his cousin escaping out their window and they should be looking for him.

Sipowicz works as a guard for an eccentric woman; Sipowicz believes a new detective is unqualified; purebred puppies are stolen from a pet store; a man accused of child molestation is found murdered.

The day starts with Danny Sorenson's funeral. Later, Jones and Medavoy leave to investigate a fire and suspicious death, leaving Sipowicz to babysit Clark, the new detective.

A woman who reports being robbed at knifepoint in her antiques mart turns out to be Captain Bass' wife.
