Detective Kelly (David Caruso) risks his career and life by testifying on behalf of Detective Licalsi (Amy Brenneman) in her double homicide trial.

The detectives are on the scene of what appears to be a gang killing. A new detective arrives at the scene, his name is Stan Hatcher.

Sipowicz and Clark Jr are on the scene of the death of a caseworker in child services, it's not clear whether she committed suicide or was the victim of foul play.

Theo is causing problems for Sipowicz, who turns to his ex-wife for advice. When a man's mutilated body is found in a hotel, Sipowicz, Sorenson and Medavoy have to visit a gay bar to search for a suspect.

Sipowicz works as a guard for an eccentric woman; Sipowicz believes a new detective is unqualified; purebred puppies are stolen from a pet store; a man accused of child molestation is found murdered.

Sipowicz and Sorenson stay out of the squad room in order to avoid the new lieutenant. While supposedly researching an old case, they discover the body of a young girl, burnt beyond recognition.
