McDowell crosses the line with the daughter she gave up for adoption; two young men are found dead in a gang hangout; a woman is found buried in concrete.

The day starts with Danny Sorenson's funeral. Later, Jones and Medavoy leave to investigate a fire and suspicious death, leaving Sipowicz to babysit Clark, the new detective.

Vehicles in the precinct's parking lot are broken into, including Clark Jr's, and since he was just thrown out of his father's home, it contained all his possessions, including his detective shield.

Sipowicz works as a guard for an eccentric woman; Sipowicz believes a new detective is unqualified; purebred puppies are stolen from a pet store; a man accused of child molestation is found murdered.

A boy may have killed his mother's abusive lover; Sipowicz faces personal obstacles when asked to help a friend.
