Buffy and the others face down death in an apocalyptic battle against Glory, who is on the verge of using Dawn to unleash hell on Earth.

Spike builds a Buffy robot hopelessly devoted to him, causing Glory's minions to suspect that the besotted vampire is the Key. Buffy goes on a quest guided by the first slayer.

Buffy falls into a profound stupor after Glory kidnaps Dawn. Willow goes into the mind of the slayer to bring her back and save the world.

While Buffy is preoccupied with being her sister's keeper, Glory sets out to grab the person whom she now believes to be the Key - Tara.

Buffy and the others flee Sunnydale when Glory discovers Dawn's identity. Meanwhile, Giles and Spike are wounded, while Tara falls apart, and Dawn finds out that she can destroy the universe.

Angel rushes back to Sunnydale to console a grieving Buffy, and Dawn tries to bring her mother back from the dead by performing a spell.
