Tara Butters

Tara Butters' career was linked forever to her writing and producing partner-in-crime, Michele Fazekas. The duo started working together in the late '90s, in the writer's room for the short-lived show "Get Real" (Fox 1999-2000) and as story editors on the first season of the Tom Cavanagh-starring "Ed" (NBC 2000-04). In 2001, the duo joined the young show "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC 1999-), where they worked as writers and editors for the next five years before they got to handle the creation of their own series for the first time. That show became "Reaper" (The CW 2007-09), which was about a young man who had to be a bounty hunter for the devil and retrieve lost souls. It only lasted two seasons, but was received well critically, leading Butters and Fazekas to working with Joss Whedon on "Dollhouse" (ABC 2009-2010), another short-lived show. They jumped from "Dollhouse" to working on more short-run shows including "CHAOS" (CBS 2011) and "Terra Nova" (Fox 2011). They reached some stability shortly after as they worked on the second and third seasons of the remake of "Hawaii Five-0" (CBS 2010-). Butters and Fazekas then went to help showrun "Resurrection" (ABC 2014-15), which was cancelled after its second season despite a highly rated debut season. They did strike gold, though, as they developed and ran Marvel's "Agent Carter" (ABC 2015-), a series based off of the character from the "Captain America" films.
