Rolfe Kent

Rolfe Kent has composed music for a wide variety of feature films, but his most notable contribution is the main theme music to Showtime's "Dexter," the popular TV series about Dexter Morgan, Miami PD's blood splatter expert by day and serial killer by night. The signature music is a perfect accompaniment to the unique visuals of each episode's opening credits, during which quick cuts of Dexter performing typical morning routines (flossing his teeth, tying his shoes) are juxtaposed with the acts of a serial killer (brandishing a garrote, tying up a captive). Kent has also served as composer or conductor on projects that range from gross-out sex comedies like 2005's "Wedding Crashers" to more cerebral fare like 2009's "Up in the Air" (George Clooney's portrait of a man who starts to question his belief that the best life is one free of emotional attachments). That wasn't Kent's only project with Clooney that year: They reunited on the military satire "The Men Who Stare at Goats."
