Twin Shadow
George Lewis Jr., a.k.a. Twin Shadow, came to prominence in the 2010s with a series of albums heavily influenced by '80s new wave and synth pop, with a dollop of R&B and modern indie pop. Born in the Dominican Republic, he grew up in Florida, and moved to Boston while he was still in his teens. In the early 2000s he was part of the band Mad Man Films, with which he made two albums. Relocating again in 2006, this time to Brooklyn, he began pursuing his own vision via Twin Shadow. Lewis scored a record deal with the legendary British label 4AD and released the first Twin Shadow album, Forget, in 2010. The album was produced by Grizzly Bear bassist Chris Taylor. Confess followed two years later, earning more attention and greater sales, reaching No. 54 on the U.S. album charts. Twin Shadow gained an even wider audience by switching over to Warner Bros. for the next album, 2015's Eclipse. In 2018 Lewis released his second Twin Shadow LP for Warner, Caer. Along the way, he also became an in-demand remixer, creating Twin Shadow remixes of tunes by tons of artists, including Lady Gaga, Goldfrapp, Neon Indian, Surfer Blood, and many others.
