Katie McGrath

Katie McGrath was an actress born in Ashford, County Wicklow, Ireland. McGrath attended school at St. Andrew's College before obtaining a degree in history with a focus on Russian history from Trinity College, Dublin. Originally, McGrath aspired to work in fashion journalism, taking a job at Image magazine, before becoming a wardrobe assistant on the racy medieval drama "The Tudors" (Showtime, 2007-2010). A fellow crew member thought that she would do well with acting, so McGrath took a chance and sent her headshot out to Irish agents. Before she knew it, she was being cast in such projects as the five-part Queen Elizabeth II docudrama "The Queen" (Channel 4, 2009), the fantasy adventure series "Merlin" (BBC One, 2008-2012), and Madonna's controversial Wallis Simpson biopic "W.E." (2011). McGrath reunited with "Tudors" star Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the short-lived vampire reboot series "Dracula" (NBC, 2013-), before taking on a small but important role in the big summer blockbuster "Jurassic World" (2015). 2017 proved to be McGrath's busiest year yet, with starring roles in Guy Ritchie's medieval action thriller "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" (2017), as well as the TV series "Supergirl" (The CW, 2016-), in which she played Lena Luthor, sister of the super villain Lex Luthor, and the Canadian-American historical drama "Frontier" (Discovery Channel Canada, 2017-).
