THE SURVIVALIST is a post-apocalyptic action thriller that takes place five years in the future after a virus has wiped out 89% of the world’s population. The national power grid has failed, nuclear power plants are melting down, and those that survive have become scavengers seeking food, water, and supplies. The story follows Ben Grant, a former FBI agent living on his family’s ranch in the Northeastern United States. Consumed by guilt for not protecting his father Heath from ruthless gangsters that killed him over gambling debts, Ben now isolates, seeking to protect his land and be left alone. In a neighboring state, one of the final refugee camps has fallen when an infected person came into camp and nearly everyone died. In the aftermath, Sarah, a young woman believed to be immune to the virus has fled, seeking out Ben who she believes can protect her. Hot on her trail is Aaron Ramsey and his gang of marauders. Believing the young woman to be the salvation of humankind and having miraculously recovered from the virus, Aaron becomes convinced that it’s his divine purpose to find the woman and start the human race anew. When Sarah makes her way to Ben’s ranch, Ben takes it upon himself to protect her from Aaron and his gang. Like a post-apocalyptic western, Ben’s ranch is surrounded by the gang and over the course of 24 hours, he must battle his way through the ranks – guns blazing – to protect her and find his own redemption. But in the end, startling revelations are made that might change the course of everyone’s lives.
