A recent loss creates a rift between Booth and Brennan, as they deal with their grief in different ways. Meanwhile, an old flame from Brennan’s past comes to visit.

When Tim's young racehorse Cisco is stolen on the way to his maiden race, Amy and Ty get help tracking him down from an unlikely source -- Ty's step-father, Wade. Meanwhile, when Lou goes off to work, Peter is left to take care of baby Katie and ends up guarding a secret that could break Lou's heart. And Caleb finally convinces Kelly to go out with him, only to have a serious curve-ball thrown his way as he arrives for their date.

When Ty visits Mrs. Bell to thank her for paying his school fees, he and Amy are surprised to learn that she's moved out of her home and away from Sugarfoot. When Ty and Amy find Mrs. Bell in a retirement home, they break her out and bring her home only for her to realize that she belongs there. Ty finds out Mrs. Bell wasn't paying his school fees. Janice and Tim argue over Shane going to the races with them. Lou gets a job... that Peter interviewed for. Soraya moves to London to be with her boyfriend.

After Mode is forced to abandon its big Christmas photo shoot because another magazine has copied the idea, Betty forms an uneasy alliance with Marc and Amanda. The three fear they may have leaked the idea to someone at the rival mag. Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina reluctantly work together to come up with a new photo spread as Mode's deadline looms, and Betty's nephew, Justin, is oblivious to the turmoil as he spends a day at the magazine for a class project.

When Tim is coerced to go with Jack on a secret mission Amy is left back at Heartland with Janice to get a young racehorse ready for his maiden run. Unfortunately, Amy and Janice butt heads over their opposing methods for training the young racehorse. On the road, Jack forces Tim to talk to Miranda and learns why she doesn't want Shane to have anything to do with Tim, or Heartland for that matter. Meanwhile, a cute but chaotic gang of furry four-legged troublemakers foils Ty's big plans for a special dinner date with Amy. In the midst of all of this, Mallory is down on love.

When tragedy strikes, Amy must find a way to save Mr. Hanley’s rescue horses from kill buyers, and Mallory tries to convince Mrs. Bell to save her childhood home. Peter and Lou are looking for a new home and find the perfect place, but things don't go according to plan. Tim proposes to Janice to help him with the custody battle, and she accepts. When she finds out his real reason for proposing, she breaks up with him. Mrs. Bell buys the Hanley house, then sells it to Lou and Peter.
