Athanasia is born a princess of the Obelia Empire; a prophetic dream shows her a future where she is banished by her merciless father, Emperor Claude.

As part of her plan to escape her fate, Athanasia continues to gather valuables from around the palace.

Lilian and Athanasia are summoned to an audience with Claude; he informs them that he will oversee Athanasia's wellbeing from now on.

Athanasia notices that Claude's face, and the faces of those around him, grow grim at any mention of her mother, Diana. One day at tea, Athanasia expresses her opinion of her tea.
