Jim tries to convince his friend Danny (Dan Aykroyd) not to back out on his wedding plans with Laraine (Laraine Newman).

Cheryl lies to her cousin Mindy and claims she is the singer of Jim's band. Mindy then invites her to perform at her engagement party, so they have to try to get Cheryl out of the band as soon as possible.

Dana's new boyfriend is an amazing musician who can get Jim the gig of his dreams, once Andy is out of the way.

Cheryl chastises Jim for losing the receipt needed to return a defective DVD player, until she realises she lost it, not him.

Jim's fiftieth birthday is just around the corner, but the curmudgeon is in no mood to celebrate. However, Cheryl has planned a big surprise party for her husband, and Jim tries to sabotage the celebration with Andy's help.

Jim advises Ryan (Mitch Rouse) on how to deal with fluctuating hormones when he announces that Dana is expecting.
