The fifth series begins five years after Katherine shot her ex-husband, when Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle stood together in solidarity to protect her. Susan tries to hide her relationship with a new man, Gabrielle questions her abilities as a mother, while Bree is on the verge of publishing her own cookbook as business partner Katherine grows envious.
Danielle, Bree's estranged daughter, returns to Wisteria Lane with a new man in tow, but instead of getting a warm welcome she faces a flood of criticism. Gabrielle and Susan set a poor example when they get into a catfight sparked by a quarrel between their children, Juanita and MJ, and Lynette tells Tom to clear out some of his old junk, but when she comes home she is irritated to find he has formed a garage band.
