Beryl Gardinant is a sword instructor at his dojo in a rural, backwater village. Out of the blue, a famous former pupil appears at his door to tell him that he has been appointed as a special instructor, and his life is turned upside down.

In the country, Beryl lives a peaceful life as a sword instructor until his former student, Allusia, offers him a job as a special instructor. Beryl accepts, but Vice-Captain Henbritz does not trust his ability and challenges Beryl to a duel.

The Old Country Bumpkin Is Astounded by a Wizard
Allucia reminisces about training with Beryl, determined to have him teach the knights. Beryl tours the city with Curuni and meets ex-student Ficelle, who amazes him with magic. However, another wizard surprises Beryl even more.
EPISODE 3
The Old Country Bumpkin Weathers a Fierce Attack
Former student and top-ranking adventurer Surena asks Beryl to train new adventurers. At the Adventurer's Guild, Beryl ends up facing off against Surena to prove he has the necessary skills for the job. Beryl is overwhelmed by this turn of events.

The Old Country Bumpkin Takes Flight With a Monster
To protect the new adventurers, Beryl faces off against a dangerous monster. It acts on instinct, and he is drawn into a ferocious battle, unable to get a read on its moves. Later, he faces an encounter that will turn his future upside down.

The Old Country Bumpkin Gets Enraged by the Bad Guys
Beryl encounters a pickpocket and sees her despair. He confronts her to get her to open up, but it is not easy. With Allucia and Lucy's help, he strives to free her from shadowy forces and the evil that binds her.
EPISODE 6
The Old Country Bumpkin Faces the Dead
Beryl receives a new sword, and is asked to uncover the mastermind controlling the villains using Mewi behind the scenes. Lucy gives him advice on how to proceed.
