Years of IVF experiments almost broke Elin and Bjørn. Elin's grief and frustration were also tough on Bjørn's daughter Stella. But Elin struggles to give up on her dream of becoming a mother, and as the head of her own fertility clinic, she has ample opportunity.

Elin and Bjørn get married because it looks better for the adoption application. At the same time Elin continues fertility treatment in secret. But in order to complete the IVF cycle she needs the help of a doctor and the only one she can turn to is her ex-husband.

Elin's double life is becoming increasingly demanding. She is in the midst of the adoption process with Bjørn, while simultaneously attempting an illegal IVF cycle at her clinic. Old patterns make Bjørn suspicious, and Elin lets Stella down on her premiere night.

The adoption process has collapsed, and Bjørn has moved out. Elin has little to lose and decides to try egg donation from her friend Maiken. However, she has run out of Bjørn's sperm. Is it too much to ask him to provide sperm for an attempt he himself is opposed to?

Bjørn and Elin want to start over and heal the family wounds. However, after all the madness, Stella now just wants to live with her mother, Renate. Bjørn misses her and goes to great lengths to win her back. At the same time, CC wants to sell Bien to an American group.

While CC secretly tries to position Bien for sale, Elin is in shock - how could they have failed to see what was happening to Stella? Bjørn is terrified for his daughter. And as they frantically search for solutions to help Stella he begins to neglect Elin emotionally.
