My Name is Earl

Upon discovering that he is the holder of a winning ticket, Earl is hit by a car and the ticket blows out of his limp hand as he lies unconscious in the street. While recovering in the hospital and watching television, Earl has a karmic epiphany.

Earl tackles two items on his karma list: making up for all the second-hand smoke he's inflicted on the world, and confessing to a man who served time for a crime he committed. Meanwhile, Joy decides to kill Earl so she can inherit his money.

Earl decides to come clean to a former girlfriend with whom he split up by faking his own death, but his plan backfires when her apparently perfect new boyfriend draws inspiration from Earl's actions.

Earl decides to teach English as a second language so that he can cross `made fun of people with accents' off of his karma list. When an old friend is released from prison, Earl tries to teach him the ways of karma.

Earl tries to win a beauty pageant trophy for Joy to make up for breaking one that she had won, so he enlists the help of her former nemesis, but Joy wants to stay on Earl's list so that he will owe her a hot tub.
