Manuel has been living with a woman who takes care of everything for him for decades until an exceptional event forces him to change his routine and hire Antonia, an inexperienced young woman from Paraguay, to help him with household tasks.

Antonia becomes increasingly established in her role and Manuel begins to see an undeniable improvement in her performance as his new employee. Manuel's close relationship with Antonia generates a certain amount of friction within his social circle.

Manuel no longer knows what to do to delay his commitment to his publisher, and his financial problems are getting worse, forcing him to confront his own issues and become a better person.

Manuel successfully finishes his book and arranges for his friend to attend the book launch.
