The story of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, a Castilian nobleman and war hero in medieval Spain. A man trapped between two worlds and two cultures, El Cid is centuries ahead of his time and becomes transcended by his own legend.
EPISODE 1
The Conspiracy
Young Ruy has just been named squire to prince Sancho, the eldest son of king Fernando of Leon. One night, he unveils a plot to dethrone the King, involving someone he loves.
EPISODE 2
The Ordeal
Flaín looks for the man that frustrated the treacherous plot. Rodrigo knows that man was his grandchild, so he sends him to Vivar, away from the court. However, Ruy refuses to leave the king to the mercy of his enemies.
EPISODE 3
Episode 3
Fernando sends his son Sancho to Zaragoza to face his brother Ramiro, king of Aragón. Before his departure, Ruy reveals to the king that Flaín has plotted to kill him.
EPISODE 4
Champion
The Castilian troops, with Sancho and Ruy in the frontline, fight an uneven battle against innumerable Aragonese forces. When all seems lost, the unexpected occurs.
EPISODE 5
Atonement
Sancho and his troops return to León. Ruy lets his grandfather know that Flaín sent an assassin to kill him. Flaín does not give up in his eagerness to kill the dying king, but he does not know Urraca still has an ace up her sleeve.
Promises and Temptations
After the assassination of Flaín, many point to Ruy as the culprit. Meanwhile, in Leon, Urraca finds out that Jimena and Ruy are in love and schemes a plan to gain from this information.
