S1, E3: On a cold day of December 12, 1979, a narrow circle of members of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union were discussing a situation in Afghanistan. After much hesitation, four people made a fateful decision to send Soviet troops to Afghanistan. This was the beginning of the Afghan campaign, the longest and most "forgotten" war in Soviet history.
