Natasha is young, beautiful and studies at the Medical Institute. She is greatly envied by her friends. Her father, a well-known doctor in the city. Olga Maltseva, pregnant in the last days, comes to his reception. He wants her to stay, but she flatly refuses. Olga signs an official disclaimer. Unnoticed before leaving, Olga leaves an envelope with money on the table. She then falls ill.

Natasha falls for a man that she sees jogging every morning. She throws her studies, forgets about friends, even stops responding to her father. Her father doesn't approve of him at all and kicks him out of the house. He stops returning her calls, and she becomes expelled from school for all the time she missed. Natasha angrily blames her father for all of this.

The father asks Alexander to return, but he refuses, getting revenge. Natasha tries to poison herself, and is rushed to the hospital where it is discovered she is pregnant. The father has a heart attack the same day as the birth, and Natasha must find Alexander to help with the baby. She also must deal with the aftermath of her father's death, especially all of the debt. Her and Alexander marry.

Natasha meets with an old friend, Lily, who is married to the man that used to love Natasha, Dima. He shows up during their meeting. Natasha and Alexander continue to argue, and she uses Dima to threaten him. Natasha agrees to move out to the country and Dima helps her, and Alexander comes home to an empty house. Lily is filled with rage, feeling that Natasha is stealing her husband.
