Esteban, Zia and Tao find a map inside a temple that will show them the way to another city of gold, but a hooded man named Zares is also on the trail.

Esteban returns to the monastery where he lived as a child, and soon learns the importance of his medallion.

After a long trip, Esteban and his friends arrive in Guilin, China, where they meet Zhi and his panda, Yang-Yang. Zhi welcomes them to his village where the annual Sacred Dragon's Fire ceremony is taking place.

With Zhi's village under attack from pirates, the three heroes must escape. Using a bamboo catapult, they launch themselves over the pirates, but Esteban and Tao are captured.

Esteban and Tao only barely escape the fangs of an alligator when a strange man wielding some kind of magic shows up in the pirate camp. Esteban and the man flee into the forest.

The three friends find themselves aboard the ship of Ambrosius the alchemist. Suddenly, they are attacked by pirates, but Ambrosius has a plan thanks to his ship's ability to fly.
