Mulder investigates a weird three-person cult, who kill in order to drink their victims' blood, believing it will make them immortal. He finds himself strangely drawn to a mysterious woman, who is linked to the three.

Mulder and Scully visit a town under attack from killer cockroaches. When Mulder discovers they are not insects but highly complex robots, he questions whether they come from this planet at all.

Following a vague tip from Deep Throat, Mulder uncovers the secret testing of alien DNA on humans by the government, but he is captured and infected with an alien retrovirus. Deep Throat tries to help the agents and is discovered as Mulder's source and executed.
