The four ladies decide to organise the dinner that the late Mary Alice was planning; Karl returns to Wisteria Lane to discuss terms with Susan.
Edie organises a neighbourhood search for the missing Mrs Huber, just as the absent busybody's sister arrives on Wisteria Lane. Meanwhile, Bree resigns herself to her marital state and asks an attractive pharmacist on a date, Susan's ex, Karl, suddenly reappears in her life, Lynette fears that Tom is attracted to the new nanny, and Gabrielle sinks to new depths.
Bree meets Orson's mother - although Orson doesn't like it, Gaby decides to get back into modelling, Susan refuses to allow Julie to see Austin, and Lynette is suspicious of her new neighbour.
Worried about her sons keeping bad company, Lynette poses as a teenage girl and strikes up an internet friendship with Porter, who reveals an unexpectedly tender side to his personality. Elsewhere, Gaby refuses to tolerate her dwindling social status when she and Carlos are excluded from a party at the country club, and Susan feels self-conscious when Jackson encounters both of her ex-husbands.
Susan encounters her ex-husband in a surprising situation and discovers that his life has changed dramatically, and a horrified Lynette finds out that the culprit behind the fire at Rick's restaurant is from her own family, but Tom refuses to believe the truth. Elsewhere, Bree begs Orson to turn himself in to the police, and their marriage cracks under the strain, while Gabrielle rents a room to a young artist.
