In the 12th century, during the Northern Song dynasty, China teeters on the brink of collapse under a negligent emperor and rampant corruption. Amidst this suffering, disillusioned low-ranking official Song Jiang (Yuji Oda) publishes a manifesto for justice, sparking rebellion across the fractured empire. His loyal ally Lu Zhi Shen (Norihito Kaneko) travels the country in search of like-minded individuals to join the cause, recruiting martial arts master Wang Jin (Koichi Sato), spearmaster Lin Chong (Kazuya Kamenashi), elite officer Yang Zhi (Shinnosuke Mitsushima), and more, eventually building a group of over 100. The resistance gains momentum when the fierce rebel Chao Gai (Takashi Sorimachi) joins forces with Song Jiang, establishing a fortress in the marshes. Will their sacrifice forge a new era for the people, or will they be reduced to a footnote of history? This drama was adapted from the novel "Suikoden" by Kenzo Kitakata.
