Boruto, the son of Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, saves a boy named Denki from bullies; on his way to the entrance ceremony at the Ninja Academy, Boruto sees Denki again but this time the child acts strangely and Boruto notices he has warped chakra.

After being suspended for the uproar he caused at the entrance ceremony, Boruto makes his way to the academy for the first time.

After getting caught in a fight between Metal and Shikadai, Boruto notices that Metal's chakra is warped, just like Denki's.

At the suggestion of Shino Aburame, their homeroom teacher, Boruto and his classmates split off into gendered teams to capture flags placed on the roof, and Boruto resorts to desperate measures when the boys' team starts falling behind.

Mitsuki, a new transfer student from Hidden Sound Village, impresses the students with his strength and smarts, but Boruto has suspicions that only intensify when a school repairman suddenly freaks out.

Boruto, Shikadai and Mitsuki find Shino acting differently than usual -- and Shino suddenly attacks them, unleashing a swarm of parasitic insects; Boruto and the others must overcome their teacher's unexpected onslaught.
