Hunted down by the brutal Northern Brothers, Lioness Tsebe must choose between her pride’s safety and her own freedom. Orphaned leopard Motsidi, struggles to take control her dead mother’s forest. Esteemed matriarch Mogolo, has given her life to the pack, but she’s old and tired. She needs to find a worthy successor before her aging failures destroy the pack.
The forest residents turn on Motsidi. Hounded by every direction, hunting means nothing if she can’t keep her kill. Thata as led the pride out of danger, but now she has a daunting task, controlling several unruly teen bhoys. After a fight with Thata, the oldest boys strike out on their own, but it’s a tough road to independence. With the rains late, the hyena grow stronger.
Lioness Tsebe holds the Northern Brothers at bay until they prove worthy to father her new dynasty. Motsidi, the orphaned leopard, makes a heart-breaking decision to leave her mother's forest, while newcomer leopard Phefo and her adorable cubs move in to replace her. The hyena army rises, and Phefo discovers it’s not the Eden she hoped for. Khutlo, a hyena runt, desperately fights for his share.
As Mombo burns, lioness Thata risks everything to save her pride, but it comes at a terrible price. As the hyena army grows, they seek out the vulnerable; leopard Phefo struggles to protect her two cubs. Under Wame’s leadership, the dog pack goes from powerful to nearly indestructible. Six new pups provide a glimmer of hope, but it doesn’t take long for the brutal hyena clan to discover its den.

As drought turns Mombo to dust, leopard Phefo must travel for food, but with their mother gone, the cubs are trapped by merciless killers. Rebels no more, Thata’s boys are eager to learn, but a confrontation with the hyena army tests them. Wame leads her dog pack in search of the northern floodplains. This great north is in lioness Tsebe’s sights now, but is she strong enough to take the throne?
