Flight 149: Hostage of War
On August 2nd 1990, Saddam Hussein took the world by surprise and invaded Kuwait. Four hours later, BA Flight 149 from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur landed in Kuwait City for a scheduled stop, carrying 400 people. When Hussein broadcast to the world that the plane and its passengers were now his hostages, it kicked off a rapidly escalating international crisis that lasted for four months. The unsuspecting passengers and crew became pawns caught up with a ruthless dictator, a plane full of spies, a British government cover-up and a surprising cameo from Richard Branson. Thirty years later, UK authorities still deny what happened on that flight; only now are they being forced to admit the truth.
