Eleanor Tomlinson

Eleanor Tomlinson was an English film and television actress who was best known for her roles in "Jack the Giant Slayer" (2013), the British television series "Poldark" (BBC One, 2015-19) and in the mini-series "The War of the Worlds" (Fox Networks Group, 2019). Born in London and raised in Beverly, East Riding of Yorkshire, Tomlinson always knew she wanted to be an actress. After briefly flirting with wanting to become a dancer, Tomlinson decided on acting, see as both of her parents were actors. She would watch her mom and dad perform on stages throughout England and dream of one day following in their footsteps. With her desire to act firmly planted, Tomlinson approached her father's agent after a show one evening and flatly asked the woman if she could represent her. Her father's agent was hesitant at first, seeing as she didn't represent children, but after much persistence from the young Eleanor she finally caved and agreed to represent her. Tomlinson's first major role came in 2006 when she appeared in "The Illusionist" (2006). She was only 14 at the time, but was already showing immense promise on screen. Over the next few years Tomlinson fattened up her resume with roles in films like "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" (2008), "Alice in Wonderland" (2010), and "The Lost Future" (2010). Then in 2013 she nabbed her first big break with a role as Princess Isabelle in the blockbuster fantasy adventure film "Jack the Giant Slayer." Although that film proved to be a disappointment at the box office, Tomlinson was undeterred and continued nabbing film and TV parts. In 2015 she joined the cast of the historical period drama series "Poldark," which was based on a series of novels by the British novelist Winston Graham. "Poldark" ran for 5 seasons on the BBC before concluding its run in August of 2019. In addition to appearing on "Poldark," Tomlinson also nabbed a part on the TV mini-series "The White Queen" (BBC One, 2013), and appeared in the films "Styria" (2014) and "Colette" (2018). In 2019 she appeared in the mini-series "The War of the Worlds," which was based on the popular science fiction book by H.G. Wells. In 2020, Tomlinson nabbed another big role, this time for American television, after it was announced that she would join the cast of the Joss Whedon science fiction series "The Nevers" (HBO, 2020-). "The Nevers" premiered on HBO in 2020.
