Penn Dayton Badgley is an American actor and musician. He is recognized for his acting and media image, as well as being outspoken on his religious and political views. Dubbed a sex symbol, he has been featured on various articles and publications. He was included on People magazine's list of "25 Beauties at 25" and BuddyTV's "TV's 100 Sexiest Men" list, both in 2011. Badgley first became known for portraying Phillip Chancellor IV on the soap opera The Young and the Restless (2000–2001), which earned him a Young Artist Award nomination. Following his roles in the comedy films John Tucker Must Die (2006) and Drive-Thru (2007), his breakthrough role came starring as Dan Humphrey in The CW teen drama series Gossip Girl (2007–2012), for which he received six Teen Choice Award nominations. Badgley went on to appear in a number of films, such as the thriller film The Stepfather (2009), the teen comedy-drama film Easy A (2010), the financial thriller Margin Call (2011), the biographical film Greetings from Tim Buckley (2012), and the independent drama The Paper Store (2016). For Margin Call, he won an Independent Spirit Award. He stars as Joe Goldberg in the Netflix thriller series You (2018–present), which earned him a Saturn Award nomination. Asides from acting, Badgley had worked in music; he is the lead singer for Brooklyn-based indie band MOTHXR, whose debut studio album, Centerfold, was released in 2016. He married singer Domino Kirke in 2017, with whom he has had one child.
