Ben Platt

Benjamin Schiff Platt was born in Los Angeles, CA. The son of film and theater producer Marc Platt, Benjamin was inducted into the show business world from an early age. In 2002, when he was only nine, he made his stage debut in a Hollywood Bowl production of The Music Man. Platt continued to perform on stage in Hollywood over the years to follow up until moving to New York in 2011 to study at Columbia University. Shortly afterward, he landed a starring role in the Chicago production of the stage musical The Book of Mormon, and began his film career proper with a role in the comedy "Pitch Perfect" (2012), followed by its sequel "Pitch Perfect 2" (2015) and, the same year, the Meryl Streep-starring dramedy film "Ricki and the Flash" (2015). The following year, Platt starred in the new Broadway musical Dear Evan Hanson. From there, his screen career took him through the likes of Ang Lee's "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" (2016), the comedy film "The Female Brain" (2017), and an episode of the rebooted sitcom "Will & Grace" (NBC 1998-2006, 2017-). Platt was cast to star in the sitcom "The Politician" (Netflix 2019-), playing an aspiring political office holder. Cast alongside Platt were Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoey Deutsch, Jessica Lange, and Bob Balaban. In 2019, Platt released his debut album, Sing to Me Instead.
