Jasmine Trinca

It was by chance that Jasmine Trinca became one of the most celebrated actresses in Italy. She was attending high school when director Nanni Moretti noticed her while scouting for talent. She was cast in his film "The Son's Room" (2001), and though she was profoundly moved by the experience, she assumed it was a once in a lifetime event. After graduating with honors, she enrolled at Sapienza University of Rome to study archaeology. The film industry, however, was enraptured with the young actor's ease in front of the camera. Soon, she was given more opportunities, like a prominent role in the Marco Tullio Giordana film "The Best of Youth" (2003). That performance won Trinca a Nastro d'Argento, and proved to her that acting could and should be her full-time profession. A steady stream of popular roles followed as she became a regular on the Italian screen, winning the Chopard Trophy at Cannes for her performance in "Female Revelation" (2006) and the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in "The Big Dream" (2009). In 2015, Trinca made her English language debut alongside Sean Penn in the action thriller "The Gunman" (2015).
