Martin Wood

Martin Wood is a producer and director specializing in science fiction television series. He started his career as an assistant director, first on an episode of the comedy "Home Movie" in 1992, and then on several episodes of the Michael Chiklis-starring crime drama "The Commish" in 1994 and '95. By 1997, Wood had worked his way into a second unit director position, on a show that would soon become one of his mainstays, the hit sci-fi adventure series "Stargate SG-1." He took the director's chair for a few episodes of the crime drama "Silk Stalkings" beginning in 1997, and in 1998 began a long stretch of working as one of the main directors on "Stargate SG-1," directing 47 episodes until 2006. He also co-produced multiple episodes of that series in 2003 and '04. In 2004, Wood began directing and eventually producing for the show's spinoff series "Stargate: Atlantis," which featured a different cast from the original. In 2007, Wood reunited with "Stargate" lead actress Amanda Tapping for several episodes of the Canadian horror thriller, "Sanctuary," which re-launched in 2008 for a successful run of several years. Wood executive-produced over 30 episodes of the series, as well as writing eight of them.
