Dana Fuchs

Dana Fuchs has one of the most exciting new voices in the modern blues scene, bringing a mesmerizing combination of grace and power to the stage. Raised with five siblings in a musical family in the small town of Wildwood, Florida, Fuchs joined an African-American gospel choir, where she learned to let "Mama Music" take over. She moved to New York at the age of nineteen, put a band together and started building a fan following. Sharing the stage with blues legends like Taj Mahal and James Cotton helped her develop a powerful performance style, and people started to take notice. The next step was moving away from the traditional blues covers to a repertoire of original material. Fuchs also worked for MTV as voice talent for a number of shows without ever appearing on camera. She transitioned to acting when she was cast as legendary rock singer Janis Joplin in the Off-Broadway rendition of "Love, Janis." Julie Taymor saw her perform and cast her in a supporting role in 2007's "Across The Universe." She's also scored several independent films, most notably the Maggie Gyllenhaal-starring "Sherrybaby." But her first love is music, and she supports her well-received albums with constant touring around the globe.
