Psychotic LA cop Martin Riggs and his long-suffering partner Roger Murtaugh are assigned to guard an embezzling accountant due to testify before a federal commission. At first, they think it a routine piece of work, but they soon discover that their charge has been laundering money for the same South African narcotics syndicate they have been trying to crack.
