In December 1968, teenagers David Arthur Faraday and Betty Loud Jensen were shot and killed on a quiet road just outside Benicia, California. Their murders marked the start of a 40-year hunt for a killer who would go on to strike at least five more times, taunting local detectives and journalists with clues to his identity as he went. Journalist Paul Avery and cartoonist Robert Graysmith become obsessed with the case.
