Clark Howat

Clark Howat was known as a reliable small-part character actor, often playing authority figures. Howat was particularly visible as a stock actor for Jack Webb on "Dragnet 1967," playing a plethora of small roles, mostly police captains and sometimes inspectors. In the science fiction series "Alcoa Presents: One Step Beyond," Howat had a prominent role in one episode about a fortune teller who reveals a future that turns out to be true. Howat had a small role in the film noir "Suddenly," starring Frank Sinatra, about a gang of assassins who plan to kill the president of the United States and hold a family hostage. Another notable film for Howat was Tom Laughlin's "Billy Jack," an action film about a half-Caucasian, half-Native American Vietnam veteran and vigilante who fights for social justice. Howat also wrote for television, including one episode of the British comedy series "The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor" about a head detective and his squad who spend time on different cases surrounding murderers, corrupt policemen, and con artists. In a break from his usual genres, Howat also acted as the script consultant on the animated cartoon series "Hot Wheels," about a character called Jack "Rabbit" Wheeler and his adventures in his Hot Wheels Racing Club.
