Virile leading man of the 1940s and 50s. One of Mexico's top stars, Armendariz appeared in a number of Emilio Fernandez films, notably "Maria Candelaria" (1944), as well as numerous Hollywood and European productions. Memorable in several John Ford films ("The Fugitive" 1947, "Three Godfathers" 1949, etc.) and as the title character of Luis Bunuel's "El Bruto" (1952). His son, Pedro Armendariz Jr., is also an actor.
