Lucy Boynton was a British-American actress who began working at the age of 12, appeared in a number of indie sleeper hits and TV shows in her adopted homeland of England, before breaking out by playing the partner of one of rock n' roll's most beloved singers. Born in New York, NY, Boynton was raised in London. Her father, Graham Boynton, was British-born and worked as Group Travel Editor of the Telegraph Media Group, while her mother, Adriaane Pielou, was travel writer. She had an older sister, Emma Louise. Boynton began her career young, making her film debut as young Beatrix Potter in the biopic "Miss Potter" (2006) when she was just 12 years old. The next year, Boynton made her TV debut in the BBC film "Ballet Shoes" (BBC, 2007), playing a young and ambitious ballerina making her way at a prestigious dance school. She would continue to work mainly in TV for the next few years, playing Margaret Dashwood in the miniseries of "Sense and Sensibility" (BBC One, 2008), co-starring as Henrietta Norton, step-daughter of controversial UK politician Mo Mowlam (Julie Walters) in the TV biopic "Mo" (Channel 4, 2010), and appearing in episodes of "Lewis" (ITV, 2011-15), "Borgia" (Netflix/Canal+, 2011-14), "Endeavour" (ITV, 2013-), "Law & Order: UK" (ITV, 2009-2014), and "Life in Squares" (BBC Two, 2015). Boynton soon began getting some promising film work, appearing in two critically acclaimed horror films by writer/director Osgood Perkins (son of "Psycho" [1960] star Anthony Perkins), "The Blackcoat's Daughter" (2015), and "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House" (2016), as well as "Sing Street" (2016), a critically acclaimed indie sleeper hit set in 1980s Ireland, in which she played a mysterious aspiring model who inspires a young man to start a new wave band. She would next return to TV, co-starring in the short-lived psychological thriller series "Gypsy" (Netflix, 2017) before playing Countess Helena Andrenyi in Kenneth Branaugh's star-studded take on the classic Agatha Christie mystery "Murder on the Orient Express" (2017). All this work would culminate in 2018, Boynton's breakout year. She appeared in Gareth Evans' cult-themed horror film "Apostle" (2018), before taking on the role of Mary Austin, the romantic partner turned closest confidant of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) in the hugely successful biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" (2018).
