Four people’s paths cross one winter by chance: two women and two men in their 30s, all whose dreams have gone sadly unfulfilled. Instead of swelling toward the peak of their lives, their lives all seem headed gently downhill.

Two men and two women, all musicians, form a string quartet to live together in a house in Karuizawa to practise. But things are not what they seem.

Suzume, hired to keep an eye on Maki, suspects that the other two members of the quartet also have an ulterior motive for their chance meeting.
EPISODE 3
Episode 3
The quartet plans to go out to eat, but Maki and Tsukasa wear the same shirt design. Yutaka warns them people may think they’re in a relationship.

Episode 4
Two men come to the house for Yutaka, demanding to know where a woman is. Yutaka, insisting he doesn’t know. gets his viola taken away by the men.
EPISODE 5
Episode 5
The quartet is offered a gig at a classical music festival. Tsukasa suggests they work together to achieve a dream as quartet Doughnuts Hole.
EPISODE 6
Episode 6
Suzume meets Mikio, who doesn't tell her he's Maki’s missing husband. In the house, Suzume sees the mark of an anti-crime colour ball on his shoe.
