David Bell's musical compositions are a fixture in the "Star Trek" universe. He first served as a composer for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"--the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" spin-off about a space station guarding a wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant, home of the formidable and mysterious new Federation enemy known as the Dominion. Bell also served as composer for "Star Trek: Voyager," another spin-off about a Federation ship with a strong-willed captain (Kate Mulgrew). But the typical "five-year mission" gets a lot longer when the ship is yanked to the distant Delta Quadrant and is forced to find its way back home. Finally, Bell was recruited once again to be composer for "Star Trek: Enterprise," a throwback to an era before the creation of the Federation. Bell's body of work extends beyond science fiction. He was a longtime composer for "Murder, She Wrote," the popular series about a mystery writer solving cases that befuddle the police.
