Randy Edelman

Some of Randy Edelman's most famous musical scores aren't even associated with the works for which they were originally composed. His theme music for "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.," a short-lived steampunk-themed TV show, was featured in the Olympic Games and the World Series. His scores for the fantasy adventure movie "Dragonheart" and the biopic "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" have appeared in several trailers for other films and during the Academy Awards. In addition, many of his solo performances outside the film industry were recorded by musicians like Barry Manilow and Olivia Newton-John. He received a Golden Globe nomination (shared with Trevor Jones) for the deeply moving music that pervaded "The Last of the Mohicans," director Michael Mann's epic of romance and frontier war. While the swelling score is usually credited to Jones, Edelman's greatest musical contributions are the softer sections in the film: those fleeting moments of serenity and tenderness between sprawling action sequences and sweeping vistas.
