시즌 4, 에피소드 1: Over a dozen years ago, a meteor shower burst from the heavens, raining destruction on the unsuspecting citizens of Smallville, Kansas. The intervening years have left the town's inhabitants with scars and secrets. From the ashes of tragedy, Clark Kent has grown into a teen. The guardians of Clark's secret identity have always been his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. The knowledge that his life is out of control has recently forced Clark to keep Lana Lang, the girl he loves, at arm's length. Over the years, Clark has forged a remarkable relationship with Lex Luthor, although neither has an inkling of how their destinies will ultimately collide. Clark returns from a bizarre phantom zone to Smallville, possessed by his Kryptonian alter ego, Kal-El. Intent on fulfilling his destiny, Kal-El takes to the skies to steal a powerful Kryptonite crystal.
