Dizzy Gillespie
S4, E12: With Statler out sick (of the show), Waldorf shares the theatre box with his wife, Astoria—a “geezer-ess” who’s got her own opinions about the antics on the stage! Tonight the Muppets are presenting an all-jazz evening in honor of guest star Dizzy Gillespie. They open with “Blue Fish Blues” featuring The Fish Singer with the Gills Brothers. But there might be a big problem with the music. Backstage, Inspector LaBrea with the County Environmental Department arrives to follow up on a noise complaint and record the loudness levels. Kermit attempts to keep the inspector occupied while Gillespie and The Electric Mayhem perform “St. Louis Blues,” Geri and the Atrics perform “Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” and Gillespie, Floyd and Zoot perform “Little Bit of Dis.” When the inspector reveals Gillespie is his all-time favorite musician, maybe he’ll “lose” his recorder if Kermit lets “the swinging civil servant” sit in with his sax! Scat’s entertainment, baby!
