False Witness

S1, E7: In the wake of an attempt to keep her from testifying against a Hong Kong crime family, Nick, Schanke and immigration officer Ray Quan set out to find Nancy Leung before the hit men can finish the job. Having followed traces of blood to an acupuncturist's office, Nick is reminded of Mai, a Chinese doctor who tried to cure his vampirism in 1916 San Francisco. However, before forcing him to leave, the shop's owner, Chung Tung Wa, silently recalls being a young boy in San Francisco and seeing Nick kneeling over the dead body of his mother, Mai. Claiming he has a lead in the case, Nick returns to watch Chung, following him to a nearby store and the wounded Nancy. While treating her bleeding and pain, Chung stalls any attempt to move her, but agrees to wait for Nick to bring a doctor. Reporting to Stonetree that she is safe for the moment, Nick returns with Natalie to help the wounded woman, unaware that Quan has also led the gangsters to Nancy in a desperate attempt to save the lives of his own family. During the mobster's attack, Nick must become a vampire to disable two of the assailants, while Chung uses an acupuncture needle to strike a third from behind. Though Nick worries that he will betray his true identity, Chung reveals nothing of what he saw but, instead, disables him with a needle and returns to his office to avenge the death of his mother. However, insisting that it was Lacroix who actually killed Mai, Nick summons Janette to convince Chung of the truth before he can carry out his mistaken revenge.
