In "Murder on the Rising Star,” tension runs high in a "triad" game between Starbuck and his arch rival, Ortega. Ortega, known for his unsportsmanlike conduct, delivers one low blow too many to Starbuck and the contest erupts into a brawl. Both players are expelled from the game. A short time later, when the unpopular Ortega is found slain, Starbuck is arrested. Apollo, confident of his friend’s innocence, searches for the true culprit, places his life on the line when the frightened Starbuck decides to escape and discovers that Ortega blackmailed passengers who bought their way aboard the Galactica.
