The killer's sudden religious 'conversion' forces McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Ross (Carey Lowell) to battle over the death penalty. The outcome of the case and an old enemy's (guest star Robert Vaughn) grudge endanger Schiff's (Steven Hill) chances for re-election.
