S1, E2: Michael and Gladys Herbert are a quiet, respectable, married couple who live in a large house with a garden somewhere in the English countryside. They are enjoying a game of Scrabble one Sunday afternoon with their friend, Colonel Eddie Phelps, and niece, Phyllis, when in walks the family cat carrying a pair of human fingers in its mouth.
