While there's comfort in connecting with like-minded people, Silverman feels it's crucial to develop relationships with people who may not agree with her opinions. Through honesty, humor, and a genuine interest in others, she attempts to do just that. In addition to field segments, episodes also include a monologue and studio bits in front of a focus-group audience.
